Stilt village on Tonle Sap

25 km away from Siem Reap, there is a village standing on stilts on the Tonle Sap lake.

The locals used to trade elephants there. This gave the village the name of Kampong Phlug, which means "haven of tusks." Kampong Phlug consists of three villages with population of about 3, 000 people. The local landscape features mangrove woods and marshes.

In summertime, you can move around the village by foot, while in rainy season the area gets heavily flooded and you can only move by boat.
